IPL 2019: Delhi Daredevils Eyes to Get Shikhar Dhawan on Board

There seems to be some kind of confusion regarding the place of Shikhar Dhawan. The southpaw opening batsman of Sunrisers Hyderabad was reported to be going to Mumbai Indians for the coming season of IPL 2019. Subsequently, there were reports of him going to Kings XI Punjab. Now, new reports suggest Delhi Daredevils is eyeing to get Shikhar Dhawan on board for the forthcoming season of IPL 2019.

Thus, Shikhar Dhawan could play for his local team in the Twenty20 league. Meanwhile, Kings XI Punjab team was also in contention to sign Dhawan. The franchise had also informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India. However, the deal could not be pen down.

On the other hand, it is learned Delhi Daredevils are looking to get Dhawan. The Delhi franchise which is run by JSW Group is offering more money to the left-handed batsman. Dhawan was retained by Sunirisers Hyderabad for INR 5.2 Crores in the IPL auction.

Punjab franchise had offered to increase INR 1 Crore and was willing to trade Karun Nair for Shikhar Dhawan. However, Delhi team has bid higher for the Indian opener.

In fact, an SRH official confirms that they might retain Dhawan as they haven’t yet traded him.

“We’ve not traded Shikhar. We may even keep him, we will see,” an SRH official confirmed to Mumbai Mirror.

Meanwhile, it is reported that former New Zealand coach Mike Hesson will take over the coaching role for the Kings XI Punjab. Hesson will replace Brad Hodge in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League. Punjab had traded Marcus Stoinis for Mandeep Singh with Royal Challengers Bangalore.
