Left-arm fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat will rejoin Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Rajasthan Royals (RR) for the upcoming edition of the cash-rich league. Previously, in the 2018 IPL, Rajasthan Royals picked up Unadkat for a price tag of Rs. 11.5 crore. After failing to live up to the billing as the most expensive Indian player, the 27-year-old and thus RR decided to release him. However, now, they have bagged his service again for Rs 8.4 crores, a lesser amount than last year.

Last season, Jaydev Unadkat managed to pick just 11 wickets from 15 matches earlier this year was the reason behind Royals not renewing his hefty contract. This was far from his tremendous feat from 2017 when he took 24 from 12 games for Rising Pune Supergiant.

After the IPL, Unadkat has taken 20 wickets in 11 limited-overs matches and 16 wickets in 10 innings of the long format. He will be desperate to do well in the upcoming edition and be in the race for the Indian National Cricket team.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals will look to improved their effort from their last season’s effort as they finished fourth on the table. They picked up late as Jos Buttler’s brilliance with the bat helped them win back to back games. And now with another exciting season round the corner, they will be keen to better their performance.

Furthermore, former Australian skipper Steven Smith is likely to return to the squad to lead the Royals after missing out on the last season. Following their involvement in the ball-tampering scandal, Cricket Australia decided to ban him along with his two teammates. As a result, the Governing Council also decided to keep him out of the cash-rich league.

With some exciting talent in the line-up and Jaydev Unadkat, Rajasthan Royals will aim to lift the much-coveted trophy next year.
