Delhi Capitals (DC) has secured their spot for the playoffs in the ongoing IPL 2019 after winning their home match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Sunday (28th April) evening at Feroz Shah Kotla Ground (Delhi).

The home captain Shreyas Iyer decided to bat first after winning the toss. While DC managed to score 187/5 (20 overs) in the first innings, RCB was restricted to 171/7 (20 overs) in the second innings.

i) The Delhi franchise scored 187/5 (20 overs) in the first innings which is their joint second highest first-innings total against RCB. Their record total against RCB is 191/5 (20 overs) at Delhi on 30 April 2008.

ii) This victory was the first victory for the Delhi franchise against RCB at Feroz Shah Kotla (Delhi) since 4th April 2010. Before their latest victory, the Delhi franchise faced six consecutive defeats against the Bangalore franchise at this venue.

iii) With this victory, DC has qualified for the IPL 2019 playoffs. The Delhi franchise failed to qualify for the playoffs in all the last six IPL seasons (2013-2018).

i) Shikhar Dhawan is the fourth batsman to score 37 or more 50+ scores in IPL history. The other three cricketers are David Warner (47 times 50+ scores), Virat Kohli (41 times 50+ scores) and Suresh Raina (37 times 50+ scores).

ii) By the end of this match, Shikhar Dhawan has scored 4,509 IPL runs. After Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma and David Warner, Shikhar Dhawan becomes the fifth batsman to score 4,500+ IPL runs.

iii) With his latest half-century, Shreyas Iyer has scored 13 times 50+ scores. Only the former Delhi Daredevils (now known as Delhi Capitals) cricketer Virender Sehwag scored more 50+ scores (18 times) than Shreyas Iyer.

iv) The wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant becomes the first wicketkeeper to make 20 dismissals in an IPL season. In the ongoing IPL 2019, the young wicketkeeper has made 20 dismissals for his side (15 catches and five stumpings). The previous record was 19 dismissals by Adam Gilchrist (17 catches and two stumpings) for Deccan Chargers in IPL 2011.

v) The pacer Kagiso Rabada has taken 25 wickets in the ongoing IPL 2019. It is the joint most wickets for a DC (previously known as Delhi Daredevils) bowler in an IPL season. Earlier, Morne Morkel had bagged 25 wickets for this side in IPL 2011.

i) Virat Kohli becomes the first batsman to score 5,000 IPL runs in India. By the end of this match, he has scored 5,020 IPL runs in India.
