Former India cricketer, Virender Sehwag has opined on Suryakumar Yadav’s splendid match-winning inning against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Sehwag believes Yadav has made a bold statement in the stare-off between the batsman and RCB skipper, Virat Kohli.

While fans have poured their outrage on social media over the exclusion of Suryakumar Yadav from the T20I squad for Australia, the batsman didn’t need any words on Wednesday as he let his bat do the talking. Yadav made a magnificent 79 from 43 balls and finished the game with a boundary.

He showed Virat Kohli that he isn’t inferior to anyone: Virender Sehwag

Virender Sehwag while chatting on a talk show CricbuzzLive with Cricbuzz heaped praises for the MI batsman. He said that with such an inning, especially against the team of the captain of India, he has proved that he isn’t inferior to anyone in regards to the snub Yadav faced.

In the match when SKY played a shot towards Kohli, the two had a stare-off. Kohli even came near the batsman. While both didn’t say anything, the former opener feels that Yadav has asserted that he doesn’t fear anything or anyone.

Talking to Cricbuzz, Virender Sehwag said, “It was a phenomenal match. The innings played by Suryakumar Yadav was incredible. He showed Virat Kohli that he isn’t inferior to anyone (in reference to the selection snub for the Australia tour). There was a moment where Suryakumar played a shot towards Kohli and then two had a stare-off where the former asserted once again that he doesn’t fear anything or anyone.”

Virender Sehwag also praised Yadav and thinks he is the most consistent out of his competitors for the national team. He said that the Mumbai batsman should get his opportunity for national colours ahead of Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey, and Rishabh Pant.

“I strongly feel Suryakumar should get his opportunity because none of his competitors are as consistent, be it Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey, or Rishabh Pant,” he added.

The IPL 2020 is turning out to be Yadav’s best IPL season as he is averaging 40 at a strike rate of 155. He has accumulated over 300 runs for the third consecutive season. MI is currently leading the points table with 16 points and 2 matches left. They will face Delhi Capitals on Saturday in Dubai.
