Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) coach Tom Moody has credited his bowling department for the recent success ahead of the clash against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Swai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on April 29 (Sunday).

Meanwhile, Hyderabad has mastered the art of defending low totals. At first, they restricted Mumbai Indians for 87 runs after posting 118 runs on the board. Then they backed it up with another brilliant win against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) defending 132 runs

The bowlers have done a tremendous job led by the Afghan spinner Rashid Khan. His return to form will be a huge boost for the Sunrisers.

However, the return of Bhuvneshwar Kumar will keep Hyderabad in dilemma about the playing XI.

Moody credits depth in SRH bowling department:

Moody feels the depth they possess in the bowling department is the main factor for their recent success. He also lauded his bowlers for delivering in crunch situations.

We’ve got excellent personnel who have experience in IPL cricket. We’ve got bowlers who have diverse level of skill. We were aware during the auction process that we wanted to make sure our depth in quality of Indian pace attack is a strong one. It’s not a great surprise to me that they have delivered but it’s great that when given a chance, they have stepped up and delivered,” Moody said.

In the absence of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Sandeep Sharma, Siddarth Kaul, and Basil Thampi have risen to the occasion, adding to the guile of Shakib Al Hasan and Rashid Khan.

Fast bowler Kaul picked up three wickets for 23 in the game against Mumbai Indians (MI) while Basil Thampi got four wickets in two games at a combined economy rate of under four.

Not worried about batting: Moody

Meanwhile, in the contrast to the bowling unit, the batting department have struggled a lot. The likes of Shikhar Dhawan, Kane Williamson, and the middle order has failed to show consistency after a decent start to the season.

However, Moody believes they can improve the batting and there is no need for massive changes.

We do believe we can improve in our batting. We don’t think we need to make massive changes. In a tournament like this, you need to show faith in who you believe are your key players. At the end of the day, it is only a small improvement we need in our batting. We have played on some difficult wickets and you not only have to applaud the bowlers but you need to sympathise with the batters who try to express themselves in a format like T20 on challenging wickets,” he added.

Tom Moody also showered heaps of praise in favour of SRH skipper Kane Williamson. He admitted that Kane is always ahead of the game and has filled the void of David Warner.
