There is absolutely no way one can keep Mahendra Singh Dhoni out of the game. It does not matter whether he is in the playing eleven or not, the legendary player always finds a way to make his presence felt on the field.

On Friday (June 29), he was not a part of India’s playing eleven for the second T20 International against Ireland at the Village in Dublin. The 36-year-old was rested with opener Shikhar Dhawan alongside pace bowlers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah.

But unlike his rested teammates, Dhoni did not enjoy the game by just sitting in the air-conditioned dressing room. Instead, the World Cup-winning skipper performed the duties of the 12th man.

Moreover, he was seen trotting onto the field with kitbag to help out in-form Suresh Raina, who was going great guns along with opener KL Rahul.

According to reports, Raina was consistently asking for a change of bats and gloves and Dhoni did not hesitate at all in helping him out. In addition, Dhoni also carried drinks for his teammates.

Meanwhile, the fans were quick to laud Mahendra Singh Dhoni for his gesture.

Asked to bat first, India scored a massive 213 for for in their 20 allotted overs. Rahul, given a chance in the playing eleven, totally justified the decision by smashing 70 off just 36 balls. He was well supported by Raina, who blasted 69 off 45 balls.

And towards the fag end of the innings, Hardik Pandya slammed 32 off just nine balls to take the score past the 200-run mark.

Ireland crumbled in reply, with skipper Gary Wilson (15), William Porterfield (14), Stuart Thompson (13) and Boyd Rankin (10) the only players to reach double figures. The hosts were eventually all out for just 70.
