Pakistan left-arm pacer Junaid Khan was ruled out of the ODI series after suffering an injury before the second ODI match against New Zealand.

The team management said that Junaid Khan suffered a toe injury on his right foot and will be out of the series. Faheem Ashraf has slotted in his place in the playing XI.

Moreover, Junaid had conceded 56 runs in the first game and had failed to pick up a single wicket. He had sustained a stress fracture on the same right foot a year back as well. The 28-year-old fractured his foot during the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and was out of action for four weeks.

On the other hand, New Zealand named an unchanged XI from the first ODI. They are leading the series 1-0 as the Blackcaps won the first game by 47 runs.

The Pakistan team has found it tough in recent times in ODI format. They struggled to live upto the expectations after the triumph against Zimbabwe. Moreover, they failed to keep their existence in the Asia Cup as they were knocked out from the Super Four. The Men in Green had lost two of their games against the arch-rivals India.

Junaid Khan had played 71 ODI matches for his nation bagging 107 wickets to his name. His best bowling figures stand four for twelve and is yet to claim a five-wicket haul in the limited-overs format.
