Kagiso Rabada could not asked for worse time to get injured. Ahead of the challenging ODI series against Australia and India, the South Africa pace spearhead suffered a groin injury and is out of both the series. South Africa is currently playing the three-match ODI series against Australia and would visit India later this month for the same number of games.

The series against India gets underway on March 12 in Dharamsala and would end on March 18. Kagiso Rabada suffered the injury during the recent T20I series against Australia, according to a Cricket South Africa press release. He played all three games, bowling 11 overs and conceding 114 runs, while taking two wickets. The right-arm is expected to be ruled out for around four weeks.

Could miss first week of IPL:

According to reports, Kagiso Rabada is now in a race against time to be fit for the start of the upcoming season of Indian Premier League (IPL). The IPL gets underway on March 29 with defending champions Mumbai Indians taking on Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium.

On the other hand, Kagiso Rabada’s team Delhi Capitals’ opening game is at home to Kings XI Punjab, and takes place on Monday, March 30.

According to the suggested timeframe, the pacer’ groin will likely have healed by that time. However, he is unlikely to be play in the first week of the IPL that includes Capitals’ matches against Kings XI Punjab on March 30 and Kolkata Knight Riders on April 3.

Last year, Kagiso Rabada was the side’s leading wicket-taker with 25 wickets to his name. His performance helped Delhi make it to the playoffs. The franchise would be hoping that the pacer recovers in time and help them start the campaign on a good note as they eye their first-ever IPL title.
