IND vs SL 2017: Virat Kohli Belongs to a Different Class - Kumar Sangakkara

Virat Kohli has had a fabulous 2017, as he scored runs in bulk and broke numerous records during the year.
Kohli who led India to a 1-0 win against Sri Lanka on Wednesday ended the year with 2818 runs. Talking about Kohli’s achievement in the last series, he had scored 610 runs in five innings which included two double hundreds in the three-match Test series.
The India captain is making the most of his great form scoring huge runs throughout the year. His fans all over the world are going gaga over his achievements in 2017.

As per stats, Virat Kohli is third on the list of batsmen with most runs in a calendar year behind Kumar Sangakkara- 2868 runs (2014) and Ricky Ponting- 2833 runs (2005).
Sangakkara is fifth on all-time run scorer list, as he has scored 12,400 runs in 134 Tests at an average of 57.40. Sangakkara’s domestic career lasted two decades. Former Sri Lanka captain finished only behind Sachin Tendulkar on the list of highest scorers in all the formats.
Sanga, as often he was called, had scored 28,016 runs in his entire career. Also, he is the leading run-scorer for his country in Test matches.

Cricket fans have always compared players of previous generations with the current crop of cricketers. A fan took to Twitter and wrote,
“Kumar Sangakkara’s 2868 runs in 2014 will remain as the highest tally ever recorded in a calendar year as Virat Kohli ends year 2017 with 2818 runs #Cricket.”

To which Sangakkara replied, and denied Kohli would break the record in the coming years, he wrote,
