Michael Vaughan Names 1 Team That Can Challenge Australia In Australia

Australian national cricket team are riding high on confidence in the form of relishing wins of late. Australia invited Pakistan to play three T20Is and two Tests. However, the hosts came out on top much to the visitors’ annoyance as they managed to win both the series with such ease. The T20I opener was called off without a ball being bowled as rain played a spoilsport.

However, Aussies gave absolutely everything to win back-to-back games and to clinch the T20I series. After that, Australia approached the longest format with full of enthusiasm. The hosts once again toyed the visitors in the Test circuit as they won by an innings and 5 runs in Brisbane Test and then they followed it up with 48-run innings victory in The Adelaide Oval, registering a 2-0 clean sweep over the visitors.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan firmly believes that Australia are a tough team to beat at the moment in their own backyard. Vaughan’s tweet comes after New Zealand’s failure to stop Australia. New Zealand are currently in Australia to play the three-match Test series. The first match has already begun at Perth Stadium on December 12.

Australia batted first and posted a competitive total of 416 (all-out)  with the help of Marnus Labuschagne’s 143 and Travis Head’s 59. In reply, New Zealand were skittled out for a paltry 166. Mitchell Starc chipped in with good bowling figures of 5/52 and Nathan Lyon picked two wickets to his name. New Zealand tried to get back into the game by removing half of Australia’s batting line-up. However, the hosts have a strong 417 lead at the end of Day 3.

It was earlier expected that New Zealand would cause problems to Australia after beating England 1-0 in the Test series at home. But, they are letting the Aussies dictate tempo in the game and it is certain that Aussies would take a 1-0 lead in the series.

Only India has the tools to beat Australia: Michael Vaughan

Australia are ranked behind India in the ICC Test Championship points table with 176 points. On the other hand, India are on top of the ICC Test Championship points table and haven’t lost a single match so far. They beat West Indies, South Africa and Bangladesh in all aspects of the game and accumulated as many as 360 points.

With no other top teams posing a threat to Australia in Aussie conditions, former England captain Michael Vaughan reckons that only India have the tools to outsmart Australia. “Only 1 Team in the World can compete in Aussie conditions against this Australian Team .. that’s #India ..
