Mike Hesson Hails Devdutt Padikkal After His Brilliant Show In Domestic T20 Competition

The young batsman from Karnataka Devdutt Padikkal has been in scintillating form with the bat in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2019-20. His brisk knock against Haryana propelled Karnataka to the final of the competition. Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) director Mike Hesson who was present during the game heaped praise on the youngster.

Meanwhile, Padikkal has been a consistent scorer with the bat in the ongoing domestic T20 competition. The left-handed opener is currently sitting pretty atop the charts with 548 runs from eleven innings, with one excellent hundred and five fifties. He has scored his runs at an average of 68.50 while his strike-rate is nearly 180. Padikkal also has the record for most sixes in the tournament so far – 31. His 56 fours in the competition are also the most by any batsman.

Mike Hesson heaps praise on Devdutt Padikkal

Devdutt Paddikal has been a part of Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL. He is likely to play a significant role in the top-order in the next season as the franchise is looking for young talents to contribute more for their team. Ahead of the start of the season, Padikkal has received the biggest compliment. Mike Hesson, the RCB director, who watched the young southpaw dictate terms in the semifinal of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, hailed him saying that it is heartening to have him in his side.

“Being a local Karnataka lad (Devdutt Paddikal), this domestic season has shown an ability to step up quickly. To have such an excellent season when only 19 is very heartening for RCB for sure,” Mike Hesson said as quoted by ESPNCricinfo.

Meanwhile, the uber test for Devdutt Padikkal will be the pinnacle clash against Tamil Nadu today in Surat. The Dinesh Karthik-led side has won the toss the opted to field first against a star-studded Karnatak line-up.
