Australia’s all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has shown his interest to don skipper’s hit for the national side. In fact, Marsh has the experience of leading the Australia A in the recent past. Therefore, the all-rounder is keen to step into Australia’s captaincy shoes for both Tests as well as in the One-day International format.

Meanwhile, Steven Smith is serving a One-year-long ban due to the ball-tampering scandal at Cape Town. Tim Paine has failed to deliver as a leader in both the formats, so far.

Furthermore, Paine has also failed to produce the runs with the bat which has rubbed salt into the wound.

Marsh is ready to shoulder the responsibility:

The Men in Yellow also faced an ignominious defeat of 5-0 at the hands of their arch-rivals England in the 50-over format.

“I’m still young when it comes to my leadership … but where we’re at at the moment, there’s going to be a few young leaders. Captaining Australia A series in India, I don’t see it as a dress rehearsal for me, but I see it as a great opportunity to captain in those conditions,” Marsh said while talking to cricket.com.au.

“I’ve captained in Australia and at the WACA, where … fast bowlers are used a lot more, so they’re different conditions. So this is an opportunity to work on my captaincy around spin, setting fields around the bat and those sort of things,” Marsh remarked.

Meanwhile, David Warner was also sacked by Cricket Australia (CA) for a year, which has left the vacant position of Australia’s deputy in the Test matches. Mitchell Marsh believes that he can be the perfect candidate for the job.

“I’ll work as much with the spinners and learn as much as I can so I can be the best captain I can be for WA and be the best leader I can be in Australian cricket. I think as a vice-captain you’ve got to be the best person you can be for your skipper, give them your full support and be a shoulder to lean on,” the all-rounder added.

In fact, veteran spinner Nathan Lyon had also shown his interest in leading Australia.

Concurrently, Aaron Finch holds the captaincy reins for Australia in the T20Is.
