National heroes Gautam Gambhir and MS Dhoni ensured India the 2011 World Cup with their prolific knocks after a 27-year drought. Though Gautam Gambhir has often been critical about the six which Dhoni hit to seal the deal for India, the former India opener also shared quite a bit of camaraderie with the 2011 World Cup winning captain.
Both the cricketers have been a part of India’s success stories in a lot of matches. And Gambhir has quite often spoken about MS Dhoni. In a recent interview, Gambhir opened up on his earlier days with Dhoni.
Gambhir, who hit 97 runs in the 2011 World Cup final, said that he was Dhoni’s roommate and all they discussed was about their hairstyles. He also shared that once they had to sleep on the floor as the room was very small and they had to remove the beds out of the room to utilize the space in an better manner.
“We were roommates for more than a month and all we used to talk about was ‘hair’ because he had those long hair back then,” Gambhir said in the recent episode of Star Sports’ chat show Cricket Connected.
“We talked about how he would maintain his hair and all that stuff. I remember us sleeping on the floor once because we had a very small room and the first week, we discussed how to make it bigger.
“So we removed the beds out of the room and we both were sleeping on the floor, with the mattress on the floor, and it was a great moment,” Gambhir added.
At present Gambhir is serving the ruling party as one of their politicians while there is a lot of speculation regarding to the future of MS Dhoni.
The former Indian captain did not feature in a match since 2019 World Cup nor has let anyone known about his future. He continues to remain silent.
