Mumbai Indians extended their record as they clinched their fifth title in IPL 2020 with a win over Delhi Capitals in the final. Their triumph in UAE also got the monkey off their back as their previous campaign in the country was not up to the mark. In the process, Mumbai Indians also defended their title, becoming only the second team to do so.

Mumbai Indians have looked like a complete unit over the years. The formidable line-up consists of Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock at top of the order with Suryakumar Yadav strengthening the top-order. All-rounders Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya are among the finest across the globe and fast bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult only make the side stronger.

No franchise in the world that can play cricket like Mumbai Indians: Brian Lara

West Indies legend Brian Lara, a part of the official broadcasters panel, said that Mumbai Indians are an unbelievable team and perhaps the best in franchise cricket. He also mentioned that no franchise in the world can play like Mumbai Indians. Lara feels that it is continuity which has made the franchise special.

“They are an unbelievable team. If they are not at the top, they are very close to the top (team). I think there is no franchise in the world that can play cricket like Mumbai Indians,” Brian Lara told Star Sports after MI’s triumph.

“I think it’s the continuity (that makes MI special). They have got players who have been there for some time. At some point of time, you obviously tend to think about changes but they have continuity. They back certain players, they have been around for 5 championship titles. That’s been the key for them,” he added.

Rohit Sharma, the Mumbai Indians captain, has been brilliant for the side. It is under his captaincy that the franchise have won the IPL a record number of times.
