A defeat against a confident Sri Lanka jolted team India’s determination on the opening day of the Nidahas Trophy.

There were hardly any positive takeaways for India from the opening contest, and Sri Lanka cantered to an easy victory on a day when the country was battling with the political issues.

Chasing a big target of 175, the home side lost an early wicket but post that, it was all Kusal Perera’s show.

In first six overs, Sri Lanka clobbered 75 runs, in comparison to India’s total of 40.

The opening six overs was enough to blow India out of the game, and the ‘Perera show’ ensured an easy victory for Sri Lanka.

He was dismissed when Sri Lanka were still 48 behind the total, but his heroics was enough to put hosts in a position from where the task was never going to be difficult.

A victory by five wickets to kick off the tour, Sri Lanka pressed the victory button right at the start.

India, though, have a slightly easy contest against Bangladesh, who recently were whitewashed by Sri Lanka across formats.

The confidence of Bangladesh is already down by the absence of Shakib Al Hasan and a second string Rohit Sharma led side has an opportunity to hunt the tiger at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.

Prediction –

A loss of though jolted India’s confidence, but that defeat would not be enough to keep India silent in the next game.

Rohit Sharma will be kicking himself for his dismissal, and the captain will look to come hard in the second T20I.

Although he is not in best of the form, he can bounce back on any given day.

Given that Bangladesh does not possess much threat to India, it’s an opportunity for Rohit to do well against a side weaker than the hosts.

Team India is expected to win the game and posts first win of the tri-series.

Bangladesh have a tough task ahead of them and looking at their form; they are no expected to start the tour on a winning note.
