Puducherry’s young spinner Sidak Singh did an Anil Kumble by bagging all ten wickets in a Colonel C.K. Nayudu U-23 fixture at the CAP Siechem Ground on Saturday.

Sidak Singh bagged the ten-wicket haul against Manipur. He had begun his career from Mumbai before moving to Puducherry for the ongoing season. Due to his spell, Puducherry bowled out Manipur for a paltry 71.  Sidak had just conceded 31 runs from his spell. His figures read an astonishing – 17.5-7-31-10.

Speaking about ten-wicket haul reminds of Anil Kumble. He scalped a ten-fer in 1999 in the second Test against Pakistan at the Feroz Shah Kotla. He became only the second bowler in Test after Jim Laker to achieve the feat.

Sidak Singh has played seven T20s for Mumbai. He is also known for Bishan Singh Bedi-like style. The 19 years old is very popular in the local circuit. Sidak was a part of U 15 team member in 2015. Mumbai picked him in its squad for the West Zone T20 Cricket Championship.

At that time, Sidak Singh was the youngest to be picked for the Mumbai senior side. Before Sidak, Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar was selected at the age of 14 in the 1980’s. Sakik’s career hit a roadblock after he was reported for a suspect bowling action by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Sidak Singh picked up six wickets from seven T20 matches that he played. Now he adds another ten in his bag which he took against Manipur. A slow left-arm orthodox spinner, Singh made his competitive cricket debut for Mumbai at the age of 15 in March 2015 after impressive performances in the under-15 and under-19 age-group levels.
