Rashid Khan On Verge Of Breaking 15-Year Old Record

Rashid Khan has already been a household name across the world. The flamboyant cricketer has been tremendous for Afghanistan across the formats. He showed the world that a player from a small country can also survive in International cricket if he got talent. Now, the board wants to make use of his captaincy skills as well.

With the new role, Rashid Khan set to break a massive record when he leads the team in the upcoming Test against Bangladesh. He is going to be the youngest cricketer to lead a team in Test format of the game. Earlier, 15 years before, Taibu led Zimbabwe when he was 20 Years 358 days old, which is still the record on books.
It is going to be broken by Rashid Khan of Afghanistan. Rashid Khan (20 years 350 days) will be eight days younger to Taibu when he will lead Afghanistan for the first time in Tests. Most probably, this would be in the record books for a while.

Afghanistan obtained Test status in 2017. In their first outing in June 2018 India thrashed them inside two days, but in the second in March, they beat fellow newcomers Ireland by seven wickets. Leg-spinner Rashid was named skipper for all three formats after their dire World Cup campaign in England and Wales when they lost all nine matches and were dogged by several controversies.
Speaking of captaincy, Rashid Khan said ” (I am) pretty excited. It is a new role to be a captain of the team and will try my best to be positive and enjoy the game.” Rashid Khan told reporters last Friday after the arrival of his team in Chittagong

Rashid has had a stellar start to his international career, widely accepted as one of the most talented legspinners in the modern game, especially in the shorter formats. He will now have a more direct role in terms of shaping Afghanistan future as a cricket team.
