Ricky Ponting is an extraordinary mind to have in the dressing room. Delhi Capitals players are reaping benefits from his time at the franchise as head coach. His impact on the team has also been quick as Delhi Capitals, studded with some young talents, went on to qualify for the playoffs for the first time in seven years in the last season of IPL.

Delhi Capitals will look to better their performance further in the upcoming season and Australia’s most successful coach Ricky Ponting is doing the best he can. The franchise CEO Dhiraj Malhotra said Ponting is an inspirational figure and a motivating person to be around. He also added that Ponting starts the training with a small speech which gives goosebumps to everyone.

“He has been an inspirational player. He is the most motivating person you can be with. See his enthusiasm at this age as a coach, player or commentator. We start the training every day with a small speech from him. From that speech, I could see people are getting goosebumps and getting inspired. He is part of every training that happens. To be trained by someone of his caliber it just has taken the team to a different level,” Malhotra told ANI.

Delhi Capitals have Shreyas Iyer leading fellow youngsters like Prithvi Shaw and Rishabh Pant in their ranks. Senior India opener Shikhar Dhawan only adds to the experience of their squad. They will also be bolstered with the presence of premier India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin in the upcoming season of IPL.

Meanwhile, after VIVO pulled out as the sponsors for IPL, Dream 11 bagged the deal for Rs.220 crore for four months. IPL will get underway from September 19 with the final being played on November 10. However, the final fixture for the lucrative tournament is still to be announced, with Mumbai Indians set to put their title on defense.
