SA vs IND 2017: Twitter Reacts As Parthiv Patel Returns To Playing Eleven

Parthiv Patel was one of the three changes that India made to their playing eleven for the ongoing second Test against South Africa in Centurion. Kohli & Co. had lost the series-opener in Cape Town by 72 runs and did not shy away from taking some bold calls. The visitors brought in Patel, Ishant Sharma, and KL Rahul in place of Wriddhiman Saha, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Shikhar Dhawan respectively.

While Rahul’s inclusion in place of Dhawan was very much on the cards due to the latter’s poor performance in the first Test, Patel getting the nod ahead of Saha was as surprising as Ishant replacing Bhuvneshwar. However, skipper Virat made it clear that Patel replaced Saha because the latter was not fully fit.

 Kohli had said at the toss:

“Saha has a hammy niggle and we do not want to take a chance with him.”

Well, Saha’s injury turned out to be a blessing in disguise for the pint-sized keeper-batsman as he made it to the playing eleven for the first time since featuring in his first Test in eight years when he played against England in 2016. But while Kohli stated that why Saha could not make it to the playing eleven, the fans seemed to a little bit unimpressed with the reason as they took to Twitter to express their views.
