The stylish southpaw of the Indian National Cricket Team Shikhar Dhawan has joined the training session ahead of the three-match ODI series against West Indies. The flamboyant batsman got injured during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2019, which made him stay away from the ongoing T20I series against the Kieron Pollard-led side.

However, Dhawan isn’t disappointed with the injury. Instead, he is enjoying the recovery phase and also started training in a bid to regain fitness before the start of the ODI series against West Indies. For T20I series, he was replaced by Sanju Samson, who initially failed to make into the 15-member squad.

Shikhar Dhawan is yet to have a big score to his name ever since he came back from a thumb injury that ruled him out of the ICC World Cup. In the recent T20 series against Bangladesh, Dhawan played very unlike him, thus, raising questions about his form and strike rate. The left-hander himself acknowledged that he could have been more aggressive in the series.

In Dhawan’s absence, KL Rahul would be looking to put a case for himself in the shortest format of the game for India. Rahul was impressive for Karnataka in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy as he helped the Manish Pandey-led outfit to lift the coveted trophy.
