Sri Lanka Vs India 1st Test: Twitter Hails Shikhar Dhawan For Stunning 190-Run Knock
Updated - 16 May 2019, 05:01 PM
India opener Shikhar Dhawan made a sensational return to Test comeback, slamming 190 on the first day of the ongoing opening Test against Sri Lanka at Galle. The southpaw, who was out of the Test team since the second Test against New Zealand in October last year, was recalled to the team after Murali Vijay pulled out of the tour due to a wrist injury. Prior to the recall from the Test team, Dhawan had performer impressively in the Champions Trophy where he finished as the highest run-getter and also had a good outing in the limited-overs series in West Indies.
And he made most of his form, grabbing the much-needed opportunity with both the hands by scoring a career-bset 190. The impressive knock was full of strokes as it came off just 168 balls with the help of 31 fours. The story could have been much different had Asela Gunaratne not dropped a catch in the slip cordon when Dhawan was batting on just 31 but after that the left-handed batsman played a fluent knock to put India firmly on top. By the time he was dismissed by Nuwan Pradeep, India were 280 for 1 with an impresive run-rate of over 5. Cheteshwar Pujara was batting on the other end on 74 and was joined by skipper Virat Kohli. Dhawan’s partner Abhinav Mukund, meanwhile, once again failed to make the chance count as he could manage only 12.
Here is how Twitter reacted to Dhawan’s stunning innings:

Even in the early 1990s, SL bowled with more discipline. This is one-man attack.

When you have to control your urge to troll Shikhar Dhawan because he has scored another hundred on a flat track pic.twitter.com/mn0v3NrR9k
