Sunil Gavaskar and Sachin Tendulkar drew quite a few similarities — both were called ‘little masters’, and contributed to the fore in different eras for the national team and went on to become the legends of the game. If that was not enough, another striking similarity came in their height, both the players were 5 feet 5 inches tall, and came from the city of Mumbai.

For Allan Lamb, India captain Virat Kohli who has made record-breaking look easy, is that sort of player. He has similarities in his approach to the West Indies great while Sachin Tendulkar approached play ‘a bit like Sunil Gavaskar’.

Sachin Tendulkar bit like Sunil Gavaskar when he played: Allan Lamb

Sachin Tendulkar would approach the game quietly. He would not rush to his centuries and quietly build his innings. Similar to the elegance of Sunil Gavaskar, reckons one of the most accomplished former English batsman Allan Lamb.

“You take Virat Kohli…. Virat Kohli plays a bit like Viv Richards, very swagger, in people’s faces and all. (Sachin) Tendulkar got into these job quietly, just went around getting hundreds…. total different player, he wasn’t in people’s faces….if you look at him brilliant, the world’s best in his time. But you know, people try to compare Don Bradman with….he said Barry Richards was the best player you have ever seen, it is for Don Bradman to tell you like that,” Allan Lamb said in an exclusive interview with Cricket Addictor.
