Suresh Raina Credits his Mother for his Success in Cricket

India cricketer, Suresh Raina, who had produced many spectacles for the country over the years, credited his mother for all the success and thanked her for always being by his side.

Meanwhile, Raina recently made a comeback to the national side during the South Africa series. Since then, he had made the spot his contribution with some useful scores.

However, one person, who stood by his side during all these ups and down, was his mother. In the latest episode by Zoom TV’s ‘Thanks Mom’ series, the southpaw praised his dear mom, who made him the cricketer he is today.

“For so many years, I wasn’t with you as I was in boarding school. Whenever I was away from home, you taught me many good things in life – how to respect elders, how to proceed in life, how to remain honest. Whatever I achieved at any stage in my life was because of you. The way you have struggled for me, the way you brought me up under such tough circumstances. I am a father now and I realise how much time we need to spend with our children. But you not being able to spend time with me is something I will always regret. Just wanted to say thank you for whatever you have done for me and I will love you forever,” Raina said.

Raina’s mother also opened up on various aspects of her son’s career. She spilled beans on the story when Raina made it into the India team for the first time.

“He called me first. He didn’t even say that he was selected. Raina just asked me to keep the house clean. I was wondering why he said so as our house is always clean. Around 2:30, media persons came to our house and it was then that I came to know about his selection,” she opens up.

Raina made his debut for India at a young of age 18. Currently, he is in England to be a part of the limited-overs squad. India will play three T20Is followed by three ODIs against the Three Lions.
