Out-of-favour Indian batsman Suresh Raina has described how Rishabh Pant needs to approach his gameplay. Suresh Raina heaped praises on the keeper-batsman Rishabh Pant, who has remained in and out of the team recently. The pair engaged themselves in a warm-up session at Raina’s home facility as sports presenter Rupha Ramani caught up with them to have a chat in a live Instagram video from Chennai Super Kings’ official handle.

Speaking of Rishabh Pant, the left-handed batsman made his international debut in 2018. The 22-year old flourished in the Test area in India’s visit to England and Australia in 2018 and early 2019. However, he has struggled in white-ball cricket, often throwing away his promising starts recklessly. Instead, India has preferred KL Rahul behind the stumps, who has also made impact with the willow.

According to Raina, all Rishabh Pant should do is display the best version of himself. The 34-year old named the youngster as a “top guy” and must stick to his natural game to get the desired results.

He (Pant) is a top guy. I want him to be who he is. I just want him to be the best for his calibre,” Raina told Ramani.

Rishabh Pant conceded that it’s right to prepare, keep oneself in shape, and refine the technique. He admitted that with cricket suspended for the last five-six months the time got wasted and hopes for India to resume soon playing. Potentially, the two cricketers will be seen in 2020 IPL, which might take place in UAE. Rishabh Pant plays for Delhi Capitals while Raina plays for Chennai.

It’s good to start practising right now. Trying to improve everyday, making use of the time now. It got wasted for 5-6 months. Let’s hope we start playing soon and we are going to do well for the country,” Pant maintained.

The Delhi batsman went on to commend his time with Suresh Raina, from whom he has been learning a lot of things. With both of them being a left-hander, Pant revealed that the veteran has been helping him quite a bit.

“It’s been a good experience because with him (Raina) you can learn a lot of things. He is a left-handed batsman. You have got that brotherhood. He teaches me a lot of things, on and off the field situations. We discuss a lot of things and it’s helping me,” Pant said.
