Ticket Demand Soars For India's Historic Day-night Test

Team India will play their first-ever day-night Test when they host Bangladesh in the second of the two-match Test series at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Meanwhile, the craze among the fans is on an all-time high as the historic stadium is all set to witness a full house in the first three days of the Test match.

Former skipper Sourav Ganguly has been the main architect behind Virat Kohli & Co play a pink-ball Test. Since taking over as the BCCI President, Ganguly was keen to host a day-night Test and put through his idea to Kohli, who gracefully agreed.

Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), in an official statement, revealed that the online tickets released till now for the first three days sold out in two days. Eden Gardens will be the first stadium to host a day-night Test in Asia.

“30% of the online saleable tickets for the first three days (5,905 tickets) have been sold out while over 3,500 tickets for the fourth day of the second Test between India and Bangladesh to be played at Eden Gardens from 22-26 November are sold,” CAB secretary Avishek Dalmiya said.

Meanwhile, CAB plans to make the occasion of the first day-night Test between India and Bangladesh big. Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will grace the stadium on day 1 of the Test while West Bengal Chief Minister will also be in attendance. CAB has also sent an invite to India Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

A plethora of stars from other sports are also likely to visit the stadium during the historic match. Former India skipper will be present during the first two days of the Test. Sourav Ganguly said he is also trying to bring Sachin Tendulkar as part of the Indian team which took on Bangladesh for the first time in 2000.

The second Test between India and Bangladesh will run from November 22-26.
