Twitter On Fire As Rohit Sharma Brings His First Test Double Hundred
Updated - 20 Oct 2019, 02:48 PM
Team India opener Rohit Sharma has justified his selection in the best way possible. The swashbuckling opener brought his third century in fourth innings in this series. Rohit’s devastating form at the top-order has been one of the significant factors for India’s dominant run in the series.

Meanwhile, the Mumbai-born opener came into this series in the midst of a lot of speculations. While many questionned the benefit of a makeshift opener, many opined that it would have better to give an opportunity to youngsters like Abhimanyu Easwaran or Priyank Panchal.
But Rohit Sharma has silenced his critics with consistent scores in the series. After scores of 176 and 127 in the first Test, Rohit had a poor outing in Pune getting out cheaply. But he bounced back and scored for India when the team needed the most.

With three down for 39 in the morning session of the first day and Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara already back in the hut, India needed someone to stand tall and fight back. Rohit did exactly that and got an ally in Ajinkya Rahane who showed great characteristics to guide their side to a big total.
Rohit Sharma brought his century in style with a six off Dane Piedt before bad light forced the umpires to call off early. Unbeaten at 117 runs, the 33-year-old cricketer was in his elements on day two as he dispatched the South African bowlers to march towards his maiden double century.
He looked a bit patchy in 190s trying to reach the milestone quickly. Eventually, he brought his double century with a six as he did during his hundred. The knock included 28 boundaries and four massive sixes and in the process, Rohit Sharma went past the record of most sixes in a series.

Double century in just 249 balls for @ImRo45. It has been a merry time for the Indian opener and he has played his natural game. Brings up his double ton with a six on @virendersehwag birthday. A little gift to former opener. #INDvSA
