The 60-year-old Ramiz Raja has been sacked as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman following Pakistan’s humiliating defeat in the three-match Test series against England National Cricket Team on home soil, as per reports.

Pakistan performed poorly throughout the three-match series against England and lost all three matches. It was the first time that Pakistan got whitewashed at home and it was also the first time they lost four back-to-back Tests on home soil, having been beaten by Australia in Lahore in March.

After losing the three-match series against England, Pakistan’s chances of qualifying for the final of the ICC World Test Championship 2021-23 final are very slim and they are heavily dependent on the results of the others teams to go their way.

According to media reports, Najam Sethi will replace Ramiz Raja as the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), and Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has already approved the appointment of Sethi.

Ramiz Raja was appointed as the 36th chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on September 13, 2021. He was elected unanimously and unopposed for a three-year tenure after Imran Khan (Pakistan’s Prime Minister then) nominated him.

Ramiz Raja had become only the fourth ex-Pakistan cricketer to lead the PCB after Abdul Hafeez Kardar, Javed Burki, and Ijaz Butt. He played for Pakistan from 1984 to 1997, featuring in 57 Tests and 198 ODIs. Raja also led Pakistan in five Tests and 22 ODIs.
