Umar Akmal Can Benefit By Learning From Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar And MS Dhoni: Kamran Akmal

Umar Akmal was once hailed as the next big thing in not only Pakistan cricket but also world cup. Having scored a sparkling Test ton on his debut against New Zealand, some even hailed the prodigiously talented cricketer as the next Sachin Tendulkar.

But, as they say, talent can be the most useless thing to possess if a person does not have the necessary temperament. And, Umar Akmal is the most prudent example of it.

The controversial Pakistani batsman was slapped with a three-year ban by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for failing to report the advancement by a bookie during the recently-concluded season of the PSL.

Commenting on the same, out of favor wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal had advised his brother Umar to learn from his mistakes and seek inspiration from the likes of Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni on how to conduct himself both on and off the field.

“My advice for Umar is that he has to learn. If he has made a mistake, he must learn from others. He is still young. There are many distractions in life,” Kamran Akmal said on a chat show show ‘Cow Corner Chronicles’.

He added: “But he must learn from say, Virat Kohli. In the early days of IPL, Virat was different and then he changed his attitude and approach. Look how he has turned into the world’s number one batsman,” he added.

Umar Akmal must learn from oberving MS Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar: Kamran Akmal

Kamran said that Umar Akmal can benefit from observing how the likes of Babar Azam, MS Dhoni, and Sachin Tendulkar conduct themselves.

“There is our own Babar Azam who is now in the top three in the world. Then there are other examples like Dhoni. Look at the way he led his team. Then Sachin paaji who was always away from controversies. These are fantastic examples before us,” Kamran Akmal said.

He added: “We should observe and learn from them. They only looked at the sport. Off the ground, their behavior was impeccable with their fans and they are fine ambassadors for the sport. We can only benefit from their examples.

Umar Akmal last played for Pakistan in the 2019 home series against Sri Lanka.
