India defeated Australia by 26-runs by D/L method in Chennai at Chepauk stadium on Sunday (17th September). The explosive duo of MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya helped India to post a total which looked impossible with India down to 87/5 at one stage.

During India’s innings, Nathan Coulter-Nile bowled an out-swinger to Virat Kohli and the Indian skipper opted to go for an explosive cover-drive but was caught at point via a brilliant catch by Glenn Maxwell. Maxwell was in mid-air when he plucked the ball with his right hand.

When Australia came in to bat, David Warner looked to take Australia’s innings forward but his innings was cut-short with a brilliant grab behind the stumps by the former India captain.

MS Dhoni had less than 0.8 seconds to catch a thick edge and the most successful wicket-keeper Indian batsman hung on to the catch.

Star sports even tweeted about both the catches reflacting on the fact that, MS Dhoni beat Maxwell in his own game.

Here’s the video of both the catches:

In their tweet Star Sports wrote, “In MS Dhoni, Maxwell not only met his match but was beaten at his own game!”

The sharp take behind the wickets ended Warner’s stay at the crease and Australia fell short of the revised target of 164 by 26 runs.

India now lead the five-match ODI series 1-0 with four matches to go, the second match will take place at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. It will be the 30th ODI in India’s oldest cricket stadium.
