Ishan Kishan has been named as the captain of Jharkhand for the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy. Kishan was preferred over Varun Aaron and Saurabh Tiwary for the job; who have led the team in past. Kishan has experience of leading a team as he was the captain of India U19 that qualified for the finals of U19 World Cup in 2016. Though, this will be the first time when he will lead a team in senior cricket.

Recently, the former U19 player drew limelight when he was bought by Mumbai Indians for a sky-rocketing amount of  Rs 6.20 Crore. Youngster Virat Singh has been appointed as deputy to Kishan. Virat has also played for India U19 in past but missed the bus for the World Cup.

Jharkhand will miss the services of their List A captain, MS Dhoni, who is in South Africa with the national side for the limited overs series. Dhoni though did not play Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for Jharkhand but has always played the List A tournament since his retirement from domestic cricket.
