Ravi Shastri’s position as Team India’s head coach became a matter of discussion after the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) members were served with Conflict of Interest notices. BCCI Ethics Officer DK Jain had served notices to the CAC members Kapil Dev, Anshuman Gaekwad and Shantha Rangaswamy.

The three-member panel recently re-appointed Ravi Shastri as the head coach. The Kapil Dev-led panel interviewed Tom Moody, Mike Hesson, Lalchand Rajput, Robin Singh and Ravi Shastri before deciding to stick with the former India allrounder. Ravi Shastri’s new tenure started from September and will end after the 2021 T20 World Cup.

Later, rumours came out that Ravi Shastri would have to undergo the process of coach selection once again if the trio is found guilty.  However, Committee of Administrators (CoA) chief Vinod Rai has rubbished the rumours, saying that Ravi Shastri’s appointed is not under the scanner.

“There is no such question,” Rai told Sportstar.

Another member of the CoA, Ravindra Thodge also echoed the same sentiments. He said that the BCCI did not find the CAC members breaking the rules at the time of their appointment. Thodge made it clear that there is no chance of Shastri’s position coming under the scanner.

“Before forming the CAC, we had asked the members to submit ‘No Conflict of Interest’ declarations and there was no conflict found by the BCCI,” Thodge said.

“The CAC was appointed only for one particular purpose and as far as Shastri’s appointment is concerned, it has been done legally and we have already given him a contract, so there’s no question of any changes now,” he added.

Meanwhile, one of the CAC members, Rangaswamy, has already resigned from the committee and as the director of Indian Cricketers Association. Kapil, Gaekwad and Rangaswamy were named in the committee after Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman refused to be part of the process for selecting India’s women’s coach last year.
