Navdeep Saini, rising India fast bowler, rose through the ranks to earn his maiden call-up for the national team in 2019. He played for Delhi in the Ranji trophy and was groomed under the captaincy of former India opener Gautam Gambhir. His success in the domestic format earned him a place in Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) franchise where he continue to prove his prowess under the leadership of Virat Kohli.

In 2019, Navdeep Saini was a mainstay in the Bangalore franchise, featuring in 13 matches. He picked up 11 wickets at an average of 36 last season. Sharing the dressing room with two of the finest cricketers to have represented India, Saini have learnt a lot from them, and known them at a personal level.

Navdeep Saini said one striking similarity in captaincy of the Delhi cricketers is they give their everything on the field. Saini also said he has learnt a lot from Gautam Gambhir while featuring the domestic tournaments while Virat Kohli has taught him to be mentally strong through his preparations.

“One captaincy trait similar to both Gautam bhaiya and Virat bhaiya is that they give 110% effort to everything on the field. I’ve learnt this from Gautam bhaiya right from the start when I played Ranji Trophy under him and then I learnt the same from Virat bhaiya in the Indian team,” Navdeep Saini told cricket.com

“Whether at the gym or in the ground or training sessions, Virat bhaiya gives his 101% to everything everywhere. Under them I have learnt how to be mentally strong and how to keep improving my skills,” he added.

In normalcy, Saini would have been plying his trade for RCB in the IPL 2020. He has featured in five ODIs and 10 T20Is for the national team and is in line to the future of Indian pace bowling attack.
