Australia fast-bowler Kane Richardson has said his team is seeking inspiration from Virat Kohli to end the ongoing tour of India on a high. Steve Smith & Co. have already lost the ongoing five-match ODI series and are trailing it 3-1 but will have a chance to leave India with their heads held high if thy win the remaining games on the tour.

Team India was in a similar position last year when India were losing the ODI series in Australia 3-1 before winning the remaining one ODI game and 3 T20Is to make it 4-4 overall. Australia also have a chance to replicate that performance and in fact, they can leave India with a 5-4 result if they win the remaining ODI and sweep the upcoming three-match T20I series.

“I think they lost the first four one-dayers and Virat spoke about winning the last one-dayer and then the three T20s to make it four-all,”  Richardson said.

“If we can keep winning and get ahead of them in terms of win/loss for the tour that would be the goal,” he added.

But while winning all the remaining game will make amends for the ODI series loss to a certain extent,  he is well aware of the enormity of the task.

“It’s all about momentum now heading into the T20s,” Richardson said. “But as we know it’s quite tough over here. Unless you play the perfect game it’s tough to win.”

Richardson also said that the team is happy to end the win-less streak and is keen to win the final ODI. The win in the fourth ODI against India at Bangalore was Australia’s first in 14 attempts prior to which they had lost 11 games.

“It’s definitely nice to win the boys who have experienced those last couple of tours,” he said. “The 5-0 in South Africa, hearing from the boys that was quite tough. Now heading to Nagpur the goal is to keep winning.”
