Virat Kohli Named As Captain Of ICC's Test Team Of The Year 2019

Indian Skipper Virat Kohli has been named the Captain of the ICC Test Team of 2019 during the ICC Awards on Wednesday. The team has five Australians, the most number of players from any country. Apart from Kohli, Mayank Agrawal is the only Indian to feature in the team.  Apart from them, the ICC Test Team of 2019 has three New Zealanders and one Englishman.

Virat Kohli had another amazing year in Test Cricket in 2019. He led India in seven Test matches and lost none of them. Currently, India are on the top of the ICC World Test Championship Rankings too. Virat led from the front as he had another amazing year in Test Cricket with the bat. He scored 589 runs in the seven games with an average of 73.62. He scored two centuries and two half-centuries in 2019 with the highest score of 254 not out.

Marnus Labuschagne was the highest Test run-scorer of 2019 and was an automatic choice. He scored a blistering 1104 runs in the 17 innings he played with an average of 64.94. Steven Smith made a great comeback in international cricket in 2019 and was the second-highest run-scorer in test cricket after teammate Labuschagne. He scored a total of 965 runs in the eleven innings he played.

Apart from Labuschagne and Smith, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Nathan Lyon were the other Australians that were picked for the ICC Test Team of 2019. Pat Cummins was the highest Test wicket-taker in 2019 with 59 wickets during the year. Nathan Lyon followed him to the second spot with 45 wickets in 2019. Mitchell Starc had another amazing year with the ball as he clinched 42 wickets in 2019.

Tom Latham, BJ Watling, and Neil Wagner represented the Kiwis in the team. Ben Stokes became the only English cricketer to represent his side in the ICC Test Team of 2019. The complete ICC Test Team 2019 is: Mayank Agarwal, Tom Latham, Marnus Labuschagne, Virat Kohli (captain), Steve Smith, Ben Stokes, BJ Watling (wicketkeeper), Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Neil Wagner, Nathan Lyon.
