Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli has posted a heartwarming message after his team exited IPL 2020 with a six-wicket defeat at the hands of SunRisers Hyderabad in the Eliminator on Friday. The defeat was RCB’ fifth in a row this season.

Asked to bat first, the Bangalore-based outfit managed to post only 131 for 7 in the allotted 20 overs. Barring AB de Villiers (56) and Aaron Finch (32), no other batsmen could deliver in the crucial game as RCB’s long wait for their first-ever IPL title was delayed again.

RCB witnessed a horrendous start to their innings as they lost Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal for just 15 runs inside four overs. Finch and de Villiers stitched a 41-run stand but Rashid Khan and Shahbaz Nadeem kept the two quiet in the middle overs.

The pressure was building up and Finch fell for it as he departed for 32 in the 11th over. From thereon, RCB kept losing wickets at regular intervals while de Villiers was holding firm from the other before departing in the 18th over.

In reply, SRH chased down the total with just two balls remaining. Kane Williamson starred with the bat, scoring an unbeaten 50 and found good support from Jason Holder who remained unbeaten on 24 as the duo shared a match-winning 65-run stand.

Virat Kohli’s message:

Soon after the game ended, Virat Kohli took to Twitter to post an emotional message for the fans after yet another disappointing IPL campaign for RCB. The RCB skipper said he was proud of his teammates despite things not going the team’s way and thanked the fans for their support.

“Together through the highs and lows. It’s been a great journey for us as a unit. Yes things did not go our way but proud of the whole group. Thank you to all our fans for your support. Your love makes us stronger. See you all soon,” wrote the 32-year old.
