Former India captain and head coach Anil Kumble turned 47 on Tuesday (October 17) and so how can one expect Virender Sehwag to not wish his former teammate. After waving goodbye to his illustrious playing career, the swashbuckling opener has managed to retain the same popularity among the fans due to his funny and witty messages on Twitter.

Hailed by many as the Twitter king, Sehwag has carved his own niche on Twitter with his hilarious as well as unique tweets and it all began with his hilarious birthday wishes. The Nawab of Najafgarh, who loves to play with words, uses pun and wit to make his tweets attractive,  has made a habit of wishing his fellow cricketers on their birthdays in his own style and his latest tweet was for Kumble.

Calling the spin legend, ‘one of India’s greatest Dhan (asset), Sehwag tweeted: “On Dhanteras, wishing one of India’s greatest Dhan @anilkumble1074 bhai a very happy birthday.
Jai jai Shiv Shambho, Happy Birthday Jumbo !”

Kumble, meanwhile, bowed out of international cricket as India’s most decorated bowler of all time. Only the second bowler to take all the ten wickets in an innings, the spin legend was India’s bowling lynchpin for almost two decades, and the architect of India’s rapid rise in Tests in the last decade. He retired from the game as India’s highest wicket-taker in both Tests and 50-over internationals.

Third highest wicket-taker in Tests, Kumble hanged up his boots after taking 619 Test wickets and 337 ODI wickets.

Kumble, who was roped in as the coach in June last year, also enjoyed a successful spell with Team India before stepping down from his post after being told of captain Virat Kohli’s reservation over his style of functioning.

Under Kumble, Virat Kohli & Co. did really well in all the three formats. India reached the pinnacle of the ICC Test rankings, after winning series against West Indies, New Zealand, England, Australia and Bangladesh at home. Kumble also guided the team to the limited-over series win over New Zealand and England in addition to helping them to finish the Champions Trophy as the runners-up.
