Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell produced an MS Dhoni-style helicopter shot during his 28-ball 62 runs knock in Adelaide. Meanwhile, Australia made a great start to their long home season beating Sri Lanka in the first of the three T20Is.

The home side got off to a brilliant start adding 122 runs for the first wicket. Aaron Finch and David Warner – pairing for the first time since 2017 in T20Is went hard at the Sri Lankan bowlers after put to bat first in the series opener.

Although Finch departed after scoring 64 runs, Warner kept up his carnage especially Kasun Rajitha, who figure read none for 75 in four overs. Glenn Maxwell, who joined David Warner also looked in supreme mood taking on the bowlers from the word go.

Maxwell, who was struggling with his form, announced his arrival in great style. He brought his half-century in exemplary fashion hitting two back to back sixes. It was a lower full-toss delivery from the bowler as Glenn Maxwell moved his legs out to bring out the helicopter shot – a brainchild of MS Dhoni. Australia posted a staggering target of 233 runs in their quota of 20 overs.

Meanwhile, speaking of the game, Australia’s recorded a victory margin of 134 runs which is the third-highest in T20 Internationals between two Full Member nations. Adam Zampa starred with the ball returning with three wickets while Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc played good supporting acts with two apiece.

Australia will be high on confidence with the form of Glenn Maxwell and David Warner as they will hope to pocket the series in the next match in Brisbane.
