The recent statements from former Pakistan cricketers Shoaib Akhtar and Danish Kaneria regarding how the latter was mistreated in the team because of being a Hindu has taken the world by storm. It was Shoaib Akhtar who started it all by claiming that his former teammates mistreated Danish Kaneria because of his religious faith.

Akhtar alleged that the players were not even ready to eat from the same table with Danish Kaneria and the latter never got credits for his fine performances. After Akhtar’s allegations, Danish Kaneria also stated the same and threatened to expose the players who mistreated him because of his religion. Not only that, the ex-leg-spinner also asked for help from Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq has now spoken on the matter. The legendary cricketer, who led Kaneria, posted a video on his Youtube channel ‘Inzamam ul Haq – The Match Winner’ to reveal his stand on the matter. And not very surprisingly, he tried to refute all the allegations while citing different examples to back himself.

“I have been hearing about this controversy with Danish, that when he played then some boys didn’t think well about him or didn’t want to eat with him or go out with him”

“The captain who Danish played the most under is me, and I never felt this thing, that there is any such thing in our team, that any player treats another player badly if he is a non-Muslim. I never noted even a single example of any such thing in our team,” he said.

“The example I can give is: Like there was Yousuf in the team and he was a non-Muslim but by the grace of Allah, he became a Muslim and became Mohammad Yousuf. He never felt anything before when he was Yousuf Youhana or after conversion. If he felt any such thing before, I don’t think he would have converted”

“I am not ready to accept that we have such small hearts that we did a thing like this, that we didn’t accept someone. I think Pakistanis have big hearts and we can accept everyone in our hearts,” added Inzamam-ul-Haq.
