Afghanistan superstar Rashid Khan is already one of the most beloved overseas players in India and his popularity is set to only increase after his heartwarming gesture for Abdul Samad who made his IPL debut on Tuesday for Sunrisers Hyderabad against Delhi Capitals.

He became just the third cricketer from Jammu and Kashmir to feature in an IPL match. Before him, Parvez Rasool (Pune Warriors, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad) and Rasikh Salam (Mumbai Indians) represented Jammu and Kashmir in the IPL.

Abdul Samad did not get too many balls to face on his debut but it did not stop him from showing what he can do with the bat. The 19-year old slammed a six and a four while scoring 12 off 7 balls to help Sunrisers Hyderabad post 162 for 4 in their allotted 20 overs.

In reply, Delhi Capitals could only manage 147 for 7 with Rashid Khan wreaking havoc with the ball. Delhi Capitals never looked in contention to chase the game as they lost wickets in regular intervals. Rashid Khan starred with the ball, picking up three wickets while conceding only 14 runs in his four overs.

With the win, Sunrisers Hyderabad opened their account in IPL 2020. They had started their campaign in the ongoing competition with two losses in a row.
