We Are Trying To Adapt To Indian Pitches Ahead Of T20Is: Sherfane Rutherford

West Indies are currently in Lucknow after having played a full-fledged series against Afghanistan. They won the ODI series 3-0 and the lone Test 1-0 but lost the T20I series by 1-2. The Caribbeans are geared up for the upcoming assignment against India. West Indies all-rounder Sherfane Rutherford said that have plenty of time to train and added that his team will be looking forward to putting on a good show here.

On the contrary, India are riding high on confidence with an unbelievable match-winning spree since the World Cup 2019 exit. India took on Bangladesh at home for 3 T20Is and 2 Tests and they managed to win both the formats. They won the T20I series by 2-1 under the tutelage of Rohit Sharma. After Virat Kohli was back in the Test side, India once again made waves. They outsmarted Bangladesh in all facets of the game and won the Test series 2-0.

Rutherford keen to make a mark in India

During a promotional event in Thane, West Indies all-rounder Sherfane Rutherford said that he is pleased to get the opportunity to prove himself. He added that his team is trying to adapt to Indian pitches. He then went on to speak about his role in the team.

“I am happy to get the opportunity. Preparation has been coming along well, we had a lot of time to train and to get some work done. So over the past few days, we have been putting in some hard work and are looking forward to giving our best against India. My role in the middle-order is similar to Kieron Pollard and Andre Russell and I have been working with them, talking to them and learning a lot,” Rutherford told reporters here.

The 21-year-old Rutherford who is eager to make a mark in India also spoke about how he has been picking up things from the seniors. Talking about his captain Pollard, Rutherford said: “He’s somebody you can talk to. Someone who would listen to you always, he brings a different energy to training sessions and the guys look up to him.”

India and West Indies will play three T20Is and an equal number of One-Day Internationals. The first T20I match is scheduled to be played on December 6 (Friday) at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad followed by fixtures in Thiruvananthapuram (December 8) and Mumbai (December 11) respectively.
