England will kickstart their ICC T20 World Cup 2022 campaign against Afghanistan on October 22. The Three Lions will enter the tournament brimming with good form and momentum. England defeated Pakistan 4-3 in the seven-match T20I series before outclassing defending champions Australia 2-0.

Although the team looks in good shape, skipper Jos Buttler will have a few concerns regarding the playing XI and how he wants the batting lineup to shape. With one of their big-hitters Liam Livingstone expected to be part of the plans, let’s take a look at three probable reasons why it might be difficult for the England batter to deliver the goods.

The right-hander had missed quite a bit of international action owing to injury concerns but returned for the mega ICC event in Australia. He will have a big role to play in the middle order for England which looks power-packed at the moment.

One of the powerful hitters in the game, Liam Livingstone hit a gigantic six which went over the roof in the T20 World Cup 2022 warm-up fixture against Pakistan at the Gabba in Brisbane. However, it will be important to see if he can continue this blistering form throughout the tournament and propel England to the coveted trophy.

Liam Livingstone will play a clinical role in England’s chances of being the reigning world champion in both of the limited-overs formats despite a renewed push to make test cricket its priority.

The England squad heads into the Twenty20 World Cup in Australia as the current titleholders in the 50-over World Cup following their success on home soil in 2019.

The national team also came close to winning the T20 World Cup in 2016, reaching the final and looking in good shape to beat the West Indies before Carlos Brathwaite smashed four straight sixes in an extraordinary last over.

Liam Livingstone will have to prove his place in the squad

The big question surrounding England’s batting lineup remains that the order unexpectedly centres around Stokes, Livingstone and Buttler. With both Livingstone and Buttler returning from injury, they will need to score runs to enable England’s new batting order to fully establish itself.

On the other hand, Harry Brook’s stellar series against Pakistan with the bat means that he has cemented himself as England’s extra batter in the middle order, with their more experienced campaigners now fitting in around him at No.5.
