Bangladesh National Cricket Team captain Shakib Al Hasan has joined veteran New Zealand National Cricket Team pacer Tim Southee at the No.1 spot on the list of most wickets in men’s T20I.

Left-arm spinner Shakib Al Hasan achieved the remarkable landmark in the 35th match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 against Rohit Sharma-led India National Cricket Team at the Adelaide Oval on Wednesday, November 2.

He picked up two huge wickets in the match to get to a tally of 127 T20I wickets. The 35-year-old dismissed opener KL Rahul, who scored 50 runs off 32 balls, and middle-order batter Suryakumar Yadav, who scored 30 runs off 16 balls.

Meanwhile, Shakib Al Hasan, who is the backbone of the Bangladesh National Cricket Team, is the highest wicket-taker of the Bangla Tigers in both Tests and ODIs. He is also the only cricketer in the world to score 1000 runs and pick 100 wickets in T20Is.

Overall, Shakib Al Hasan, who is the No.1 ranked all-rounder in the ICC Men’s T20I All-rounder Rankings, has picked up 127 T20I wickets in 108 games at an average of 21.11, an economy of 6.81 and a strike rate of 18.5, including five 4-wicket hauls and one 5-wicket haul.

Talking about Tim Southee, the veteran New Zealand National Cricket Team pacer has bagged 127 wickets in 103 games at an average of 24.13, an economy of 8.17 and a strike rate of 17.7, including one 4-wicket haul and one 5-wicket haul.

The kiwi pacer will have the opportunity to go past the tally of 127 T20I wickets when the New Zealand National Cricket Team lock horns with the Ireland National Cricket Team at the Adelaide Oval on Friday.
