Former New Zealand National Cricket Team skipper and the current head coach of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Stephen Fleming, has stated that the India National Cricket Team captain Rohit Sharma “was visibly frustrated” during the second semi-final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022.

Rohit Sharma & Co. went head-to-head with the Jos Buttler-led England National Cricket Team in the second semi-final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022. The game turned out to be a terrible one for the Men In Blue as the England openers – Alex Hales and Jos Buttler – demolished the Indian bowling unit while chasing 169 and chased down the target in just 16 overs to register a dominant 10-wicket victory.

Speaking to ESPNcricinfo, former New Zealand skipper Stephen Fleming asserted that Rohit’s frustration didn’t allow him to get his flow on during the high-profile semi-final game.

“You can see some frustration. You could see he was visibly frustrated and couldn’t get his flow on. Even the shot he got out to, you know he’s looking to do it, you know he can feel that he’s behind and wanting to get underway. It’s just the method and being out of their comfort zone. We’ve seen them in full flow, they are just awesome. But to get them in full flow is taking some time,” said Fleming.

They’re not being able to bounce off each other – Stephen Fleming on Indian batters

Former New Zealand National Cricket Team skipper Stephen Fleming further stated that the Indian batters are “not being able to bounce off each other” and they are “simmering around the same level”.

“They’re not being able to bounce off each other. They’re all sort of around the same level without anyone bubbling away in outstanding form. Often, that can be the key, the one who can hide behind and is the catalyst to get the others going. They’re all simmering around the same level, especially in the 6-10 overs.

“There have been many teams that have been left behind a little bit because of being conservative and looking to play a percentage game whereas the game is moving fast,” said Fleming.
