Pakistan National Cricket Team captain Babar Azam gave an inspirational speech in the dressing room after the defeat of the Men In Green against India National Cricket Team in the 16th match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday, October 23.
In the high-octane India-Pakistan World Cup clash, bowlers Arshdeep Singh and Hardik Pandya bagged 3 wickets each while Mohammed Shami and Bhuvneshwar Kumar bagged one wicket each to restrict Pakistan to 159/8.

Chasing the target, the modern-day batting great Virat Kohli smashed a remarkable 82* runs off 53 balls, including 6 fours and 4 sixes, to help India win the match. He also had a sensational 113 runs partnership in 78 balls with Hardik Pandya.
After Pakistan’s defeat in an absolute nail-biting match, Babar Azam lifted the spirits of the players by delivering an inspirational speech in the dressing room.
“Brothers, it was a good match. We put in the effort, like always. Some mistakes happened but we have to learn from them, we shouldn’t fall. The tournament has just started, we have lots of matches left, remember that. Nobody should fall. In the end, I would say, we didn’t lose because of one person. We all lost as a team,” Babar said in a video which was shared by Cricket Pakistan.
“No one should point fingers on one person, this should not happen, not in this team. As a team we have lost, as a team we will win. We have to stick to together, remember that. We have had good performances too. Look at those too. There have been some really good performances, but the small mistakes that were committed, we need to work on them.”
Tu match-winner hai mera – Babar Azam to Mohammad Nawaz
In the final over of the match, Team India needed 16 runs to seal the victory and spinner Mohammad Nawaz was bowling the over. He dismissed Hardik Pandya and Dinesh Karthik in the final over, but a waist-high no-ball and a couple of wides proved costly and Pakistan lost the match.
Meanwhile, Babar Azam backed Nawaz and labelled him as a match-winner of Team Pakistan.
“Khaas taur se, Nawaz. Ghabra mat. Koi masla nahi. Tu match-winner hai mera. (Especially, Nawaz, don’t worry. You are my match-winner) and I will always have the belief in you. No matter what happens. You will win matches for me. The efforts were really good. It was a pressure game, but you took it close. Very well done. Whatever it is, leave it here. Going ahead, we will start afresh. We have played really well as a team and we have to continue that. Wish you all the best,” said the Pakistan captain.
“We win as one and lose as one!”
