Virat Kohli is reportedly set to be dropped from India’s T20I squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The much-awaited World Cup is scheduled to be played in June this year in the West Indies and the United States of America.

Virat Kohli has played in each of the last five T20 World Cups and has been one of the best performers with the bat in the tournament.

One of the most decorated T20 batsmen of all time, Virat Kohli was the highest run-scorer in two of the last four T20 World Cups and was the second-highest run-scorer in one of the editions. In the last edition played in Australia, the former India skipper had scored 296 runs in 6 games at an average of almost 100.

However, he could be dropped from the team for this year’s T20 World Cup, according to a report in The Telegraph. The report claimed that the veteran batsman is not a certainty for the tournament. The selectors and the team management are ready to make some bold calls to end India’s long wait for an ICC trophy and Virat Kohli could be dropped from the team.

Virat Kohli not confirmed for T20 World Cup:

The report stated that the selectors believe Virat Kohli hasn’t been able to cope with the team’s needs in the shortest format. When he returned to the T20I team in January this year after a gap of more than a year, chief selector Ajit Agarkar spoke to him and asked him to change his approach to cater to the demands of the T20 format.

The star batsman duly obliged but failed to score big, registering scores of 29 and 0 against Afghanistan at home. The report further stated that the slow wickets in the West Indies wouldn’t suit Virat Kohli. The BCCI has left the decision of his selection on chief selector Ajit Agarkar.

While only time will tell whether Virat Kohli will play in the T20 World Cup or not, the fans are not at all happy with the latest reports. Here are some of the reactions to the report.
