Naushad Khan, father of Sarfaraz Khan, was all emotional as his son finally received his Test cap on Thursday (February 15). The right-handed batsman was included in the India playing eleven for the third Test of the ongoing five-match series between India and England.

Sarfaraz’s father as well as his wife were invited on the field for the cap presentation ceremony. He received his Test cap from former India captain Anil Kumble. As his son received the special cap, Naushad Khan failed to keep his emotions under control. Tears came rolling down his cheeks as Sarfaraz finally got the opportunity to play for Team India after toiling hard for years in domestic cricket.

After receiving the cap, Sarfaraz handed it to his father who kissed it with his eyes full of tears. Both of them also shared a warm embrace after the special moment. India captain Rohit Sharma also came up with a heartwarming gesture for Naushad Khan as he hugged him.

Naushad Khan on his son’s late debut:

After the cap presentation ceremony, Naushad Khan was invited to the commentary box where he came up with a brilliant response when asked about his son’s late debut in international cricket. Former India opener Aakash Chopra asked him if he had to wait too long to see his son play his first game for Team India.

In reply, Naushad Khan said: “Raat ko waqt chahiye guzarne ke liye, lekin Suraj meri marzi se nahi nikalne wala (it takes time for the night to pass, the sun is not going to rise according to my wish).”

Well, Sarfaraz will be looking to make the opportunity count and score big in the ongoing game. All eyes will be on him when he comes out to bat in Rajkot. Talking about the Test, India were on 111 for 3 at the time of writing this report. The hosts were reeling at 33 for 3 in the first session after Yashasvi Jaiswal (10), Shubman Gill (0) and Rajat Patidar (5) departed cheaply. Captain Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja then steadied the ship for the home side.
