Ravindra Jadeja ruled out of Rajkot Test; Mohammed Shami to miss entire England Test series - Reports

After getting ruled from the second Test match against England in Visakhapatnam, Ravindra Jadeja is also expected to miss the third Test in Rajkot. Jadeja sustained a hamstring injury after the end of the first Test match and as per reports, his injury will take more time to recover. Apart from Ravindra Jadeja, KL Rahul is also ruled out from the second Test match against England.

As per a report by Cricbuzz, the hamstring injury takes a period of four to five weeks to heal, however, as per the insiders of the Indian cricket team, Jadeja might be rested for a longer period, and if he gets fit until the fourth Test in Ranchi, it will be very remarkable.

Ravindra Jadeja likely to miss third Test against England, Mohammed Shami ruled out from the whole series

According to Mohammed Shami, his condition is also not promising as per the current information. As per Cricbuzz, Shami is currently in London and was ruled out from the Test series against England due to an ankle injury. There is no solid source about Shami’s ankle surgery but it is very much certain that he is ruled out from the whole Test series. There is also a question mark regarding his availability for the Indian Premier League 2024.

Ravindra Jadeja was one of the top performers of the Indian cricket team in the first Test match against England. Jadeja played an innings of 87 runs in the first innings and also picked up three wickets with the ball. On the other hand, Mohammed Shami was the leading wicket-taker for India during the ODI World Cup 2023 and also one of the team’s best performers in the red ball format for a while. Shami didn’t take on the South African tour due to his fitness and was later ruled out from the England series.

With the likes of Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Shami missing the second Test match, the responsibility will be on skipper Rohit Sharma and pacer Jasprit Bumrah, to help India win the match and make a comeback in the series.

The Indian team shall make a few changes to their lineup for the second Test match. Batsmen such as Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer are struggling to score runs. Both the players were not able to leave any impact as per their name in the first Test and there are chances that they might be replaced in the second.

While Sarfaraz Khan has been included in the team’s lineup for the second Test, he shall make his debut along with Rajat Patidar. Both the batsmen have shown great performance in domestic cricket and shall make a place against England in the second Test match.

Also, there are chances that India might go with four spinners in the second Test match. The pitch in Vizag shall have more help on the surface than in Hyderabad, which might be the reason they shall play four spinners in the side.
