Sarfaraz Khan plays like Javed Miandad, claims batter's father

Sarfaraz Khan could make his Test debut in the ongoing India vs England series. The right-handed batsman has been added to the Team India squad for the IND vs ENG Test series after 1st Test. Ahead of the match, Sarfaraz Khan has revealed a crucial reason why he likes to watch Virat Kohli batting.

Sarfaraz Khan got a national call after his outstanding batting show in the domestic circuit. Last year, the right-handed batter shattered three consecutive tons in the Ranji Trophy for his team Mumbai.

He also slammed a century for India A against England Lions, which backed his place in the Test squad. Although he could not grab a place in the Test squad till now, his time has arrived in the India vs England Test series.

The wicketkeeper-batsman is highly likely to feature in India’s next Test game against England in Vizag Stadium. Batters like KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja have sustained injuries and Khan might get a chance to don the India jersey for the first time.

Sarfaraz Khan likes to watch Virat Kohli’s batting for this reason

Sarfaraz Khan talked about his journey to Jio Cinema after his national call-up. The wicketkeeper said that he likes to watch the batting of stars like Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Sir Vivian Richards among others. He revealed a crucial reason behind the same, stating he wants to learn and apply their skills in his batting.

“I like to watch Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Sir Vivian Richards, and even Javed Miandad because my dad has told me that I play like him. I watch Joe Root’s batting also. Anyone who is succeeding, I am watching them to see how they are doing it so I can learn and apply it.

I want to continue doing this, whether it’s in the Ranji Trophy or playing for India in the future,” said Sarfaraz, who represented Delhi Capitals in IPL 2023 last year”, the Mumbai player said.

Sarfaraz Khan hails his father for introducing him to cricket

Sarfaraz Khan hailed his father Naushad Ahmed who introduced him to cricket. He also added his dad believed in hard work and motivated him to follow it.

“My father introduced me to cricket, and I always wondered why am I even playing. I am an attacking batsman and I used to get out sooner than others and scoring big runs was getting difficult.

It was disheartening to see others succeed while I wouldn’t be among the runs. But my dad always believed in hard work, and everything I have is a result of that work”, the 26-year-old further added.

IND vs ENG 2nd Test begins on February 2

Meanwhile, Rajat Patidar is another uncapped member of the India squad for the England series. In the absence of Virat Kohli from the next encounter, Sarfaraz Khan and Rajat Patidar might get their Test cap and become a part of playing 11.

India vs England 2nd Test begins on Friday, February 2 at YS Rajasekhar Reddy ACA-VADA Stadium in Visakhapatnam. India trails 1-0 in the series after losing the opening encounter by 28 runs. The series will observe five encounters.
