India stand-in skipper Jasprit Bumrah has put his team in the commanding position in the ongoing fifth Test against England. The last game of the series between the teams is taking place at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala.

Jasprit Bumrah, who has been unlucky with the ball in the game, made sure that he struck for the team when it mattered the most. After Ravichandran Ashwin made a mockery of the England batting lineup, the hosts needed someone to provide support at the other end.

Jasprit Bumrah brought himself into the attack and made sure that the move paid off for India. He produced a double-wicket over and ensured that India put one foot past the finishing line. The stand-in skipper removed Tom Hartley and then Mark Wood to reduce England to 8 wickets.

On the second ball of the 35th over, Jasprit Bumrah bowled a full delivery in the stumps. The ball had a hint of shape and the impact was right in front of the middle stump and hitting the middle of only the middle stump as he trapped Tom Hartley in LBW.

Jasprit Bumrah brought his best two balls later to Mark Wood. The fast bowler bowled a deadly toe-crusher that hit the batter straight on the foot. The England pacer couldn’t play the angle as his bat came down late and the batter had to take the long walk back.

Here’s the video:

Tom Hartley tried to get going and played a decent hand for the team but he couldn’t carry on as the class of Jasprit Bumrah was too much for him to handle. The left-hander scored 20 runs off 24 balls and also hit 4 boundaries in his innings, adding 28 runs with Joe Root.

Mark Wood on the other hand wasn’t allowed to open his account. He bagged a two-ball duck. Premier batter Joe Root on the other hand is keeping England in the game. He has hit a sensational half-century and looks all set for a ton, which would be his second in the series.

Jasprit Bumrah captains India in absence of Rohit Sharma

India skipper Rohit Sharma didn’t take the field on the ongoing Day 3 of the game at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala. The senior opener batter wasn’t 100% fit as he had a stiff back and wasn’t given the clearance by the medical team to take the field.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also released an official statement related to the same development and stated: “Captain Rohit Sharma has not taken the field on Day 3 due to a stiff back.”

In the absence of Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah has been captaining the side and the fast bowler has done a terrific job. The stand-in skipper has rotated the bowlers brilliantly and has made sure that England’s batters don’t get settled at all. Even commentators have been in awe of his leadership. He would want his side to take the remaining two wickets quickly and bag the game.
