Shubman Gill scored a brilliant ton against England in the second innings of the second Test as he played a knock of 104 off 147 deliveries. Shubman Gill released a lot of pressure with this innings and put a rest to the question marks being raised on his selection with this century.

Former India head coach Ravi Shastri warned Shubman Gill about the threat that Cheteshwar Pujara possessed for him as the 35-year-old batter is in sublime form in the ongoing Ranji Trophy. Shubman Gill was opening the batting with Rohit Sharma before he started coming at No.3 from the West Indies series in July 2023. Cheteshwar Pujara was replaced by Yashasvi Jaiswal in the XI after he failed in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and World Test Championship Finals in 2023.

“It’s a fresh side, a young side. These youngsters have to prove themselves. Don’t forget, Pujara is waiting. He is grinding it out at the Ranji Trophy and is always on the radar,” Ravi Shastri said while commentating. However, Yuvraj Singh has backed the youngster and gave a sharp response to Ravi Shastri’s statement through a Tweet on his ‘X’ account. Yuvraj Singh congratulated Shubman Gill on playing a well-balanced knock and getting his century while mentioning that he should let his bat do the talking

“Rising to the occasion once again and playing a well-balanced knock! Good to see the three-digit mark. Well played my boy – let the bat do the talking,” stated Yuvraj on his ‘X’ account.
